Support Services

Ralli support services personnel are just as important  as our legal services personnel.  We work as a team, and only by working together will Ralli grow in strength year on year.

Our support services galvanise the service which we give to our clients. We have an environment of mutual trust and integrity which enables Ralli to excel in the provision of legal services. Our support services generally provide assistance in the following areas:

Recruitment - what do we look for?

A good sense of humour, a gregarious nature and an engaging personality is a very good start!  When people work so closely together, they have to get on, and that has to be a prerequisite for all the members of Ralli.

We expect clear communication skills, affability, professionalism confidentiality, tact, discretion, initiative, and of course technical competence.

Information Technology is part and parcel of every day employment for most people in the 21st century.  As a consequence, it would be no surprise to expect all applicants to have knowledge and competence in case management systems, accounting software and all the usual pieces of software and hardware which are used within the legal environment.

The Finance Team

Headed by the Operations & Finance Director, Ian Hazeldine, and assisted by Jonathan Pickup and his team, Ralli's  transaction processing and regulatory compliance are managed in line with best practice.

On a day-to-day basis the Operations & Finance Director provides financial analysis, operational reporting,  management accounting, working capital management and the general application of the financial and internal control disciplines necessary to ensure that Ralli is successful.  Client funds and management of the firm's finances are controlled by Jonathan Pickup and his team.

The Business Development Team

Our Marketing Manager, Gillian Nuttall, coordinates business development and public relations activities, including our sponsorship of Sale Sharks.  She works hand in glove with all of the heads of departments, and with our public relations company.  Over the years, Gillian has developed excellent relationships with various radio stations throughout the UK.   There are many occasions when we are called on at very short notice to give TV, radio and media interviews relating to news items that are of national and local interest. For example in January 2007, following the death of a young child in a savage dog attack, Martin Coyne was asked to speak by several TV companies and radio stations, the coverage being networked throughout the North West.   Ralli are often called upon to give updates in areas of law and we feel that this service is of benefit to the public and to our clients.

The Facilities Team

Lee Williams is usually one of the first persons a new member of staff meets when they join Ralli for their first day induction. The Facilities Department is our engine room, and Lee is responsible for one of the largest budgets in Support. Facilities have a dedicated team responsible for reception, client welfare, post room services, reprographics, office machinery maintenance, matter file archiving and long term storage, supplier purchasing & tenders, property management, building maintenance, health and safety management, first aid, business continuity, departmental moves, catering, office cleaning, office & Professional Indemnity insurances, the vehicle fleet, security and  compliance matters. Lee and his team also organise and run the bar at our monthly social drinks evenings!

Information Technology Team

The Information Technology Team is headed by our IT Manager Michael McGuire. He is ably assisted by Emma Clarke and Richard Chung. For years Ralli, as Betesh Fox, has been at the cutting edge of legal information technology. For instance, we have been operating our Clients Online facility for over four years, which enables our clients to dial directly into our case management system, Visualfiles, and view their case on a read-only basis. This ensures that our clients are able to keep themselves completely up to date with what is happening on their files.  Our case management system is provided by Visualfiles, and we were in the forefront of using digital dictation and voice transcription software. 

The Human Resources Team

Headed by our HR manager Lisa Sykes, and assisted by HR Net software, we pride ourselves on providing a professional and sympathetic HR facility both to all members of the Ralli team and also to the outside world. Together with the Operations & Finance Director, Lisa spearheaded the introduction of our successful flexible working facility, which is offered to all members of Ralli.  This is in tune with our desire to ensure that everybody who works here is able to achieve a proper work life balance

Secretarial Support Team

We do not have typing pools at Ralli.  We find that our clients' work is most efficiently handled by a one-to-one ratio between secretarial staff and the lawyer. It also makes the work much more interesting, and encourages secretarial engagement with our clients.  Digital dictation enables any transcription overflow to be shared amongst the team, dependant on current workloads.  Flexible working has enabled many working mothers to remain at Ralli and tailor their work with their family commitments.
