Personal Development
Here are a few of the factors which we at Ralli focus on, not only when recruiting, but during post recruitment time by way of continual assessment.
Personal development
We pay particular attention to personal development within the practice. Appraisals are conducted six months after the commencement of employment, and thereafter, on an annual basis. Appraisals are valued greatly by Ralli, and are seen as a very useful tool for the firm and the people who have been appraised.
We have an open door policy, which enables speedy answers from team leaders on legal or personal issues. We have always encouraged such a policy within our Human Resources Department. This has often removed uncertainty, and stopped a member of staff suffering unnecessary worry. Consequently, such a policy has paid dividends in our staff retention statistics.
The role of a "Buddy"
When starting work at a new firm it is often difficult to remember all the new practices and procedures. In order to help with this, Ralli have introduced a “buddy system” which comes into play immediately after the induction programme.
A buddy’s role is to help with practical questions with regard to Ralli’s protocols and systems. This means that a new starter knows that they have extra support after the induction process and whilst they are getting to grips with new IT systems and things that have been forgotten from the initial induction training right down to those “stupid” questions that no one likes to ask when they start somewhere new. Ralli appreciates that it is often only once a new employee starts to use the new computer systems and working on files that they think of the questions they really need to ask.
Buddies will also review a new starter’s files to ensure that the new starter is happy with all the practical matters of running a file and using Ralli’s IT systems.
We currently have two solicitors, Sarah Anyon and Jenny Stevenson, who have taken on the role of a “buddy” for new employees working within the Personal Injury department.
Career progression
Everybody's career progression is important and is reviewed on an annual basis. The appraisal system is particularly useful, very detailed, and encourages a frank exchange of views between the Appraiser and Appraisee. An appraisal is produced, agreed and signed by both parties, and forms part of the Appraisee's personnel file. Advancement within the firm is dependent on many factors, not merely on income generated or work introduced. Leadership, administration, expertise and of course affability are also vitally important.
The working environment
Ralli is located within a select Georgian courtyard within 1 minutes walk of the new and impressive Manchester Civil Justice Centre. We are by the river, and are just a further 3 minutes walk to Deansgate, and the city centre shops. The aspect is extremely pleasant, immediately adjacent to the new Left Bank Quarter.
The firm has utilised case management systems since 1993 and has been allowing clients access to the case management system for over four years. See Your Case
For those coming from the north and west we are but 2 minutes walk from Salford Central train station. We are adjacent to the NCP car park and have 36 car spaces allocated on a rota basis.
Every member of staff has online access to the Internet, and we benefit from online legal search libraries.
Professionalism
We impose high standards of professionalism within Ralli, which is reflected in our client care policies, and our dealings with fellow professionals. As a consequence, all persons who commence at Ralli will work on a probationary three-month period.
