Discrimination & Equal Pay

Discrimination & Equal Pay

The law on equal pay and discrimination is ever changing and recent years have seen the expansion and development of anti-discrimination laws in the workplace to include new rights against less favourable treatment on the grounds of sexuality, religion, belief and age.

These new rights are in addition to established rights outlawing discrimination on grounds of sex, race and disability and providing the right to equal pay. Legislation also exists to provide protection for those working part-time or on fixed term contracts.

Employers are expected to take the rights of their workers seriously and adapt working practices accordingly. If you feel that your employer has infringed your right not to suffer less favourable treatment on any of the above grounds, in almost all cases, it will be necessary for you to raise a grievance in accordance with certain statutory requirements before commencing legal proceedings.  If you do feel that your rights have been infringed or have any queries at all about the best way to proceed, our experienced solicitors will be able to advise you on any issues you may have.

There are also strict time limits for taking such steps and so it is important to seek legal advice from a specialist employment lawyer without delay.

Our team of employment lawyers are experienced in acting for claimants in all areas of discrimination, particularly in the fields of sex and disability.

Please contact Ralli’s head of employment, Mark Higgins or solicitor Lisa O’Brien for advice on any concerns you may have.
