Unique advice on pursuing your military accident claim
If you are involved in an accident whilst serving in the Armed Force, you may be eligible to claim compensation. Claims involving Armed Forces personnel can be unusual and complex and a specialist solicitor is often necessary. An accident can have unexpected repercussions as Armed Forces personnel may find that their pension is affected and chances of promotion diminished. Injuries caused by an accident could even result in a medical discharge.
We have extensive experience of dealing with claims involving Armed Forces personnel whilst serving both in this country and abroad, and are sympathetic to the uniqueness of a career in the Armed Forces.
We provide a free legal service to personnel for a wide range of accidents, such as road traffic accidents, tripping/slipping accidents and assaults. See how we can help by viewing our MOD's Third Party Accident Scheme website, known as Topas.
We also act for friends, family and dependents of MoD and service personnel whilst off duty. See how we can help by viewing our Family Accident Scheme website.
You should not wait until you have left the Armed Forces before seeking advice as you may find it is then too late to make a claim.
Case study
We acted for Mr X, a Staff Sergeant in the Army. He slipped on oil on a petrol station forecourt sustaining a knee injury. He was subsequently medically downgraded for 12 months. Extensive enquiries were made to assess whether his pension entitlement would be affected if he was forced to retire early.
After strenuous negotiation he was awarded the sum of £10,000 in damages.
Notes
The Topas scheme cannot be used to claim against the MoD. The MoD provide a scheme for claiming compensation which is named The Armed Forces Compensation Scheme. This is a no fault scheme and we can provide help and advice should such an application be made for gratuitous compensation .
