Professional Qualifications:
LLB (Hons) from The University of Liverpool. LPC at The College of Law in Chester. Solicitor of The Supreme Court of England and Wales.
What do I do at work?
As a solicitor in the Business Litigation department, I act for clients in a wide range of claims – from Commercial Debt Actions and Professional Negligence to Shareholder Disputes and Breach of Warranty Claims.
I am an agile and innovative litigator, drawing upon my diverse legal and technology background to devise the best solution the law has to offer my client. The first step in any action is to analyse the client's objectives and agree a tactical approach to obtain the required outcome.
My particular emphasis is in Police Law (including Police Pension and Police Misconduct actions), Protection From Harassment Act claims (including injunctions and workplace bullying), Intellectual Property and Information Technology disputes.
I am currently acting for a number of former and still serving Police Officers in a precedent, High Court action against their Chief Constable. The claims involve ground breaking points of police, evidential and harassment law with multi million pound damages.
I am also dealing heavily at the moment with an appeal under the Police Pension Regulations to the Crown Court, which is extremely rare and uniquely challenging.
What have I done?
I completed my training contract at Ralli, undertaking seats in the Criminal, Employment, Personal Injury and Business Litigation departments. I greatly enjoyed my varied seats, and have gained a wide range of experience across a number of legal disciplines.
Before joining Ralli, I worked for a leading legal publisher in development of their online business. I look to us my IT skills wherever possible to the best advantage of my client or the firm.
I have also helped to produce and promote a charity calendar for my home village in Cumbria and was on the Law Student Society Committee at University. I have travelled extensively across Europe and North America and hope to see more as time allows.
What do I like?
I enjoy football – both playing and supporting Manchester United, also mountain biking and surfing in the summer when possible. I'll listen to any decent music - from classic rock to hip hop and particularly enjoy watching bands with friends in the line up. I try to swim 2 or 3 times a week and play 5-a-side football when possible.
I also like eating out, socialising with friends and spending time with family. The occasional holiday abroad, particularly to Spain, is always well received!
