What do I do at Work?

I handle the full range of personal injury cases including road traffic accidents, accidents at work, public and occupiers liability.   I almost exclusively represent injured Claimants in cases against individuals, Councils, Companies and Hospital Trusts.

I became an Associate in January 2007 and a Partner in the business from July 2010.  I run personal injury cases and manage a team of Associates and Claimant Personal Injury Solicitors.

What have I done?

I represent Claimants; and enjoy meeting and dealing with a wide diversity of people.  Claimants sustain personal injury in a multitude of circumstances and it is rewarding helping them get the treatment they require and the damages to which they are entitled whatever the case.

I have acted in some unusual cases which have included a DIY novice who sustained 1st degree burns whilst using ready mixed concrete to build a conservatory.  I acted for a semi professional kick boxer who sustained significant lower limb injuries when knocked off his motorbike when riding at 60 m.p.h, resulting in devastating orthopedic injuries which meant he would never compete again.

I have pursued claims for professional and amateur footballers who have suffered serious injury from tackles on the pitch.  I successfully acted for Jamie Tandy, a Manchester City reserve team player who was stubbed in the eye with a cigarette by Joey Barton at the Manchester City FC Christmas party, a claim which settled for a significant sum at mediation.

I have pursued several high profile cases for victims of assault where damages for the victim have successfully been recovered from the CICA and/or the offender's employer.  In one case this involved a Postman who was savagely attacked by Bouncers at a family caravan park in front of his two young daughters, a case which received extensive local and national media coverage.

In June 2008 I was the Law Society Gazzette Lawyer of the week for representing a UK citizen who had suffered permanent upper limb injuries in the USA.  The Claimant received $220, 000 and involved me liaising with US attorneys as well as developing my appreciation of the USA legal system for personal injury.  I have subsequently been able to act for a number of Claimants who have unfortunately suffered injury whilst on holiday or work in the USA.  even once acted on behalf of a herdsman who was knocked down by a cow which had been separated from her calf!

What do I like?

I am interested in sports both watching and playing.  I still try and play 5 and 6 aside football on a weekly basis in Altrincham.    I also enjoy cycling, tennis, golf and skiing.   In 2009 I and one of my partners completed the Manchester to Blackpool cycle ride on behalf of BASIC, the brain and spinal injury charity.  I am interested in film, theatre, politics, history and reading and visit as many places of interest as possible.

I enjoy food, both dining out and cooking and fortunately have not been responsible for any claims yet!
