Law Costs Draftsman
Joined Ralli: August 2006, 1996 and 2001 but not as a Solicitor
What do I do at work?
I do all manner of Law Costs work. I undertake the preparation of basic/detailed Costs Schedules/Bills, preparing Schedules of Costs for Allocation/Listing/Trial, drafting Replies to Points of Dispute, negotiation with Third Parties, attending upon Detailed Assessments, providing advice on all manner of costs issues and assisting team members as and when required.
I have over a decade's experience, and have previously dealt with both Claimant and Defendant costs. I also have numerous years experience of dealing with LSC matters. Within my experience is a good few years in which I was self-employed. I undertook work on behalf of both Claimant Solicitors and Local Authorities. So, playing on both sides of the fence did have its benefits!
What have I done?
The major achievement which I look back upon with the most fondness, is where I came from and where I am now. I have had involvement in a couple of important costs cases, but I have not really been involved at the sharp end, so I won't take any credit.
I played football for Manchester Boys as a youngster and won a number of football trophies. I also won a bronze medal in the backstroke at Broadway Baths when I was 9. It would have been gold but my right arm got caught in the ropes when I was approaching the finish line!
What do I like?
Laughter, travelling/holidays, socialising on a regular basis, keeping fit/going to the gym, people that don't take themselves too seriously, a good book, cheese on toast and Manchester United Football Club
