Defendants in January copyright hearing urged to come forward

Ralli is working for hundreds of people who have received letters from law firms alleging copyright infringement.

Michael Forrester is a solicitor in Ralli's IP & Media team. He has experience of dealing with this type of claim, and closely follows the law relating to harassment. The courts have recently published a decision which is relevant to these types of claim, and Michael has studied the Court Order carefully commenting that:

"It appears all pending cases have been grouped together and listed for a case management hearing on 17 January 2011. This, as noted in the Order, is an unusual step. The Court must consider there are some key issues in these cases which need resolving swiftly.

The hearing in January will provide a framework for the management of the pending cases. The result will affect thousands of consumers across the United Kingdom who have received these letters."
