It’s amazing that people are putting cost before qualification of the people carrying out the surgery, or that they fail to see the importance of good quality aftercare?
If this is the silver lining from the PIP implant scare maybe some good will come.
People considering surgery do need to be educated as to the risks and realities of surgery.
Many people I have spoken to seemed unaware that implants do not last forever.
They had given no thought to what may happen if and when they do need to be replaced, regardless of this scare.
Regulation will restore credibility to a profession who have some amazing practitioners and who do a lot of good, for many patients.
